MVHR servicing and repair
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) runs continuously, extracting stale, moist air and supplying filtered fresh air while recovering heat that would otherwise be lost.
As filters become blocked, the system has to work harder, which can increase noise and reduce its effectiveness. An annual service is generally recommended.
What a service includes
- Replacing the filters
- Cleaning the unit, fans and heat exchanger
- Inspecting the condensate drain
- Checking the controls and boost settings
- Advising you on how to operate your system
When to arrange a visit
- The unit has become noticeably louder
- Condensation is forming on windows
- Rooms feel stuffy or odours linger
- The controller is showing a filter warning
- The system has not been serviced in the last 12 months

Frequently asked questions
How often should an MVHR system be serviced?
We recommend checking the filters every six months and arranging a full service every 12 months, or as advised by the manufacturer.
What does the £90 diagnostic visit include?
Our engineer will inspect the system to identify the fault. Where a repair can be carried out during the visit, they will discuss this with you; otherwise, we will provide a written quotation for the repair.
How can I tell whether I have an MVHR system?
MVHR units are usually located in a loft or cupboard and have four duct connections. Our guide to identifying your system explains the differences between system types.
Do you work on all makes of MVHR?
We are an approved service provider for leading manufacturers and work on most makes. If your manufacturer is not listed, please select "Other or unknown" or contact us.
